**I cannot verify this with my own research. William is shown on FamilySearch as the son of John ECHOLS & Nancy MERRELL. I never came across records or writings that confirms this.

**On FamilySearch there is a connection made on the 1870 United States Census showing a William Echols b: 1805, Georgia & Mary A Echols b: 1822, North Carolina. This Mary A connects to Mary Ann NORWOOD who was b: 1820, North Carolina. Mary Ann NORWOOD married Philip Whitehead Jackson ECHOLS 19Jan 1843 in Monroe County, Georgia. This William ECHOLS does not appear to be related to Philip Whitehead Jackson ECHOLS.

**Other researchers on FamilySearch place Jackson as a S/O John ECHOLS & Nancy MERRELL. I do not agree with this. Why would John ECHOLS & Nancy MERRELL name two of their children Jackson especially since one would have sill been living when the other was born.

**I have not yet discovered the parents of this Jackson ECHOLS. If you have details please contact me. Something to consider is John Jackson ECHOLS b: 23 Nov 1804 in Habersham County, Georgia and died 28 Apr 1886 in Jefferson County, Alabama while this Jackson ECHOLS b: 18074 in Georgia and d: 1858 in Union County, Illinois.

**I'm not sure where Rebecca Echols Terry pulled this information from but the records online at FamilySearch show him as David E EDWARDS not ECKLES. Right up above is the record showing the marriage between David ECKLES and Mary A CAHOON.

Lofton [H] Acles [Echols] & Delilah J[ane] Bond - 10 Dec 1840

Lofton is the S/O John ECHOLS & Judith COMPTON; Delilah is the D/O Marstin BOND & Tabitha V WARD. Both are buried at Blooming Grove Cemetery in McLeansboro, Hamilton County, Illinois, USA.
